Basic White Bread
This recipe also makes marvelous scone dough.
Steps
In a large bowl , sprinkle yeast over warm milk.
Stir in until well blended.
Add sugar , salt and oil.
Add flour about 2 cups at a time , blending until a soft dough forms.
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth , about 10 minutes.
Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Divide dough into 3 equal parts and form into loaves.
Place each loaf in a greased bread pan.
Cover and let rise another 30 minutes.
Bake in a 400 degree oven about 30 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Turn loaves out onto cooling racks and brush with melted butter to keep crust soft.
