Chocolate Cherry Kisses


This is a better homes and gardens cookie recipe, from their holiday cookies booklet. I eliminate the chocolate kisses, as we prefer them without.

Steps


Preheat oven to 325.
Beat butter about 30 seconds , add powdered sugar and salt.
Beat until combined.
Beat in 2 teaspoons cherry liquid and almond extract.
Beat in flour.
Stir in cherries.
Shape dough into 1 inches balls.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Dip a glass into the cherry liquid , then into granulated sugar and flatten the cookie.
Bake about 14 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.
If desired , press a chocolate kiss onto the top of each cookie.
Cool on wire rack.
